Bart128 F&F Sympatyk Solo italiana automo ... ...bili da Cracovia | 2006-04-24 21:19:04 try to find an dohc engine from fiat 124 131 or 132, it is much simpler to mount an longitudinal engine under the hood of 125 than transverse from croma or ritmo{strada} 130tc. croma , a "newer" fiat engine has also both exhaust and inlet manifold turned 180 degrees{inlet and exhaust on the other side of the head}, when comparing to older engines like those in 125{italian} or 132 argenta. there are many little tricks that you have to solve during instaling the transverse engine, even more when it has "turned" manifolds, therefore I recommend longitudinal one.

-SerU- F&F Sympatyk Fiat 131 Wroclaw/Maidstone | 2006-04-24 21:56:11 I'm afraid that engine mounts and flywheel are just the begining. First of all gearbox from your fiat won't fit with DOHC engine-you should use gearbox e.g from lada or fiat 131/132/argenta. Next are: oil sump-compare shapes of sumps from FWD and RWD, croma has different oil pump, water pump. Also you metioned that you're going to use carburator and inlet manifold from regata-if so, then you will have to use an electric fuel pump-at croma's engines it's impossible to use mechanical pumps. Belive me-i've made swap like this (engine from ritmo mounted in 131) it was terrible. |
-SerU- F&F Sympatyk Fiat 131 Wroclaw/Maidstone | 2006-04-24 22:23:36 I've made this swap in my friend's 131 and i'm sure that that was first and last time in my life-this project had no comon sense in my opinion. Polski gearbox cannot be used beacause clutch housing flange in polski won't fit (bolt mounting holes are in different positions). My advice-find as Bart128 said, DOHC engine from RWD fiat. It's easier to fit 2.0 OHC ford or even v6 from capri/granada engine in your car than FWD from fiat.
